Which is better: a man made or a wool carpet?
This depends on where you are going to lay the carpet and also how much you are prepared to spend. In a main traffic area, eg a living room or hallway, it is important to have a good depth of pile to ensure that the carpet wears well and keeps its appearance. In these cases, a wool carpet will generally do the job better; however, if your budget is tight, a man made fibre can provide greater weight and value for money. In bedrooms, these considerations are less important as less time is spent there and a lighter quality of carpet will suffice. In all cases, we would advise talking to us to consider your options in detail.

Do I need to lift and dispose of my old carpet/floor covering?
We are happy to do this for you as part of our service. However, due to the costs imposed by the local authority for the commercial disposal of carpets, we will have to charge extra for this. An alternative is for you to contact your local authority, who will remove the carpet free of charge.

Do I need to move all the furniture from the room prior to fitting?
We have full liability insurance and are therefore happy to move furniture and appliances as necessary to fit the floor covering. However, this will naturally take longer and therefore an extra charge will be incurred.

If I have selected a vinyl floor, what preparation is required prior to fitting?
If your existing floor is wood or chipboard, we will put down a plyboard sub-floor before laying the vinyl flooring. If the existing floor is concrete, we can prepare a screed sub-floor if required, although this may not be necessary if the existing floor is already suitable. We will advise on these when visiting to take measurements.

Will you fit the floor underneath my domestic appliances (eg freezers, free standing cookers)?
We recommend that all floor coverings are fitted under free standing appliances, although we will charge extra for moving these appliances due to the liability involved. Please contact us for further advice.

Does the vinyl floor create a waterproof surface?
We seal up where possible with a mould-resistant silicone sealant. As long as skirting boards are fitted tight to the floor, this will create a waterproof area.

Do you employ your own fitters?
Yes we employ fitters on a full time basis. We also sub-contract to a very experienced team of fitters that Chris has known and worked with himself for over 21 years.

What guarantees do you have?
We guarantee the fitting of your carpet for the first year. As Chris himself is an ex-fitter he knows and sets the standards among his team. Are you insured when you are in my home? We have full liability insurance while we are in your home, so you can be assured that, in the unlikely event that an accident should occur, you are completely covered.
